Who we are and how to contact us

This website (the “Site”) is operated by Solostack (“we”, “us”, “our”). For the purposes of data protection law, we are the controller of the personal information described in this policy.

We have not appointed a Data Protection Officer because the law does not currently require us to. Our email address above is the contact point for every request.

Summary

• The Site has no user accounts, no comments and no forms. You can read everything without giving us any personal information.
• Like any website, our server receives technical information (such as your IP address and the page you asked for) when you visit. We use it to deliver and secure the Site and delete it on a schedule.
• At the date of this policy we do not use analytics or advertising cookies. If that changes, we will update this policy first and ask for your consent where the law requires it.
• We do not sell your personal information for money.
• You can ask us to access, correct or delete your information, and object to or restrict its use, by emailing us.

Information we collect

1. Information you give us

If you email us, we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and whatever you write. We use it only to answer you and to keep a record of the conversation. Please do not send sensitive personal information such as financial account numbers, government identifiers or health information.

2. Information collected automatically

When your browser requests a page, our web server records standard technical information in server logs:

• your IP address (a network identifier that can indirectly identify you);
• the date and time, the page or file requested, and the response status;
• the page that referred you to us, if your browser sends it;
• your browser type and version, operating system and device type (the “user agent”).

3. Information from cookies and similar technologies

Cookies and similar technologies are covered in our Cookie Policy. Apart from the record of your privacy choice (see below), we set nothing that is not strictly necessary until you agree.

4. What we do not collect

We do not run accounts, forums, comments, surveys, competitions or payment pages, so we do not collect account details, payment card data or user-generated content. We do not knowingly collect “special category” or sensitive personal information, and we do not use automated decision-making that has legal or similarly significant effects on you.

How we use information and our legal bases

Where the UK GDPR or EU GDPR applies, we must have a lawful basis for each use. This table sets them out.

We do not use your information for any purpose that is incompatible with these, and we do not build individual profiles for marketing without your consent.

Cookies and similar technologies

We store your privacy choice in your browser’s local storage. This is a record that lets us honour your decision and is strictly necessary. All other cookies or similar technologies stay off until you agree through our consent banner.

Who we share information with

We share personal information only where needed, and only with:

• Infrastructure and hosting providers that run our servers and network, acting on our instructions as processors.
• Our email provider, which handles messages you send us.
• Professional advisers such as lawyers and accountants, under duties of confidentiality.
• Authorities and other parties where the law requires it, to enforce our rights or to protect the safety of others.
• A successor, if the Site is transferred as part of a sale or reorganisation, subject to this policy.

We do not sell personal information for money and we do not share it for third-party marketing.

International transfers

Our providers may process information in countries other than yours, including the United States. Where personal information from the UK or EEA is transferred to a country without an adequacy decision, we rely on safeguards such as the UK and EU standard contractual clauses or a recognised framework (for example the EU-US Data Privacy Framework for certified providers). You can ask us for information about the safeguards that apply.

How long we keep information

Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), restricted access to servers, regular software updates and limited retention. No system is completely secure. If we become aware of a personal data breach that puts your rights at risk, we will notify affected people and the relevant regulator as the law requires. To report a security concern, email us; our /.well-known/security.txt file lists the contact.

Your rights (UK and EEA)

If the UK GDPR or EU GDPR applies to you, you have the right to:

• Be informed about how we use your information (this policy).
• Access the personal information we hold about you and receive a copy.
• Rectify inaccurate or incomplete information.
• Erase your information in certain circumstances.
• Restrict how we use your information in certain circumstances.
• Data portability, for information you provided that we process by consent or contract.
• Object to processing based on legitimate interests, and to direct marketing at any time.
• Withdraw consent at any time, without affecting earlier processing. Use the cookie settings or email us.
• Not be subject to solely automated decisions with legal or similar effects. We do not make such decisions.

We may ask you to confirm your identity and, because we cannot link most technical data to a named person, we may ask for details such as the approximate date of your visit. We respond within one month, which we may extend by up to two further months for complex requests, and we will tell you why. We do not charge a fee unless a request is manifestly unfounded or excessive.

You also have the right to complain to your data protection authority. In the UK this is the Information Commissioner’s Office. In the EEA you can contact the authority in your country of residence, work or where an issue occurred; a list is published by the European Data Protection Board. We would appreciate the chance to resolve your concern first.

California privacy notice

This section supplements the rest of the policy for California residents, to the extent the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (“CCPA”) applies. We give these rights and notices voluntarily where the law does not strictly require them.

Categories of personal information (past 12 months)

We do not collect sensitive personal information, commercial or financial information, biometric information, professional or employment information, or education information through the Site, and we do not knowingly collect personal information about people under 16.

Sale and sharing

We do not sell personal information for money. We also do not “share” personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising, because the Site does not currently use personalised advertising.

Your California rights

• The right to know what personal information we collect, use, disclose and share, and to access a copy.
• The right to delete personal information we collected from you, subject to exceptions.
• The right to correct inaccurate personal information.
• The right to opt out of sale and sharing, and to limit the use of sensitive personal information (we do not use it).
• The right to non-discrimination. We will not deny you service or charge you differently for using these rights.

To make a request, email aftab1981@gmail.com. We verify requests by matching the details you provide with the limited information we hold, and we respond within 45 days, extendable by a further 45 days where reasonably necessary. You may use an authorised agent, who must provide proof of your written permission. We honour opt-out preference signals such as Global Privacy Control as a valid request to opt out of sale and sharing for that browser.

Under California’s “Shine the Light” law (Civil Code section 1798.83), residents may ask which categories of personal information a business discloses to third parties for their direct marketing. We do not disclose personal information to third parties for their own direct marketing.

Other US states

Residents of some other US states, including Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, Oregon and Montana, have privacy rights under state law, which may include the rights to access, correct, delete and obtain a copy of personal data, and to opt out of targeted advertising, sale and certain profiling. We apply the rights described in this policy to all US visitors to the extent the law requires or we choose to. If we decline a request, you may appeal by replying to our decision email with the subject “Appeal”, and we will respond within the period the law allows (usually 45 to 60 days). If your appeal is denied, you may contact your state attorney general.

Children

The Site is intended for adults who manage their own finances and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or under 16 where local law sets a higher age). If you believe a child has sent us personal information, email us and we will delete it.

Links to other sites

Our guides link to third-party websites such as government agencies and companies. We are not responsible for their privacy practices or content. Read their policies before giving them information.

Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

There is no agreed industry standard for browser “Do Not Track” signals, so we do not respond to them. We do, however, treat a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal as an opt-out of advertising personalisation, sale and sharing for the browser that sends it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when our practices, the technologies we use or the law change. The “Last updated” date above shows the latest version. If we make a material change, such as starting to use a new kind of advertising or analytics technology, we will update the policy before the change takes effect and ask for your consent where the law requires it. Previous versions are available on request.
